The development of energy production plants from alternative source, based on photovoltaic, wind and other kinds of technologies, requires the use of modern monitoring and remote control systems relating to the running of such plants in order to provide the users and the managers/maintenance men with all the relevant information, on real time and through the most flexible telecommunication means.

Indeed, an adequate analyses and measurement of the plant productivity are necessary, in addition to the maintenance management in order to avoid out of services times and reduce management costs, taking into account the typical characteristic of distribution of alternative energy production plants.

The new TRSun system was born as a reply to the needs of managing the functioning processes of the photovoltaic plants, in relation to which TerniEnergia acquired the market leadership on the whole vertical process (engineering, performance and management). Such system concept easily extends to other renewable plants, thank to the flexibility of the technological platform that was adopted.
TRSun overcomes the limits of remote control systems typically developed by inverters’ constructors, according to a logic based on the potentiality of the connection to the various interfaces and the developed telecommunication flexibility.

Furthermore TRSun represents the basic element for a centralized management and control, in addition of being an advanced platform for the transmission, purchase, collection and analyses of the main information of the plant.

The spreading increase of the already distributed generation of products is highlighting always more and more the need to insert, as additional element to the plants, modern monitoring and control systems, thus overcoming the limits of the products to date available, that have been developed with reference to specific platforms.

TRSun system is dedicated to the acquisition, management and control of the complete ensemble of signs/measures and information, divided into the four functional groups that as a whole do characterize a photovoltaic plant (or, more generally speaking, distributed energy):

  • Information consisting in measurement/state of generation process, and environmental characteristics (including the  survey of the irradiation and temperature)
  • Information on how devices work (electric panel, inverters, strings, etc), on real time measurement of the energy generated and poured into the net, and of magnitudes (voltage measure, current, etc)
  • Information aimed at render easier the management and maintenance of the plant, particularly focused on maintenance criteria with a predictive intervention (upon condition), in order to optimize the total costs.
Finally, TRSun is characterized by a strong possibility to scale it, thus rendering it possible to customize it on the basis of the plant dimension and the firm being the client:
  • possibility to integrate it to information system at the final user level and at the system’s manager level
  • possibility to shape the device according to clustering formalities for the management of big dimension plants
  • possibility to create a VPN for the centralized control and on real time even of more than one plants.
